Nolan N70-2 X Review - More than just an Adventure Helmet
The Nolan N70-2X is multiple helmets in one! It can be worn as a traditional peaked adventure helmet or a Street Helmet, but with its clever removable chin bar, it can also be an open-face street, or peaked trial style helmet. In fact, there are eight configurations in total. Thats all well and good, but how does the helmet perform where it matters, out on the road?

The Yamaha MT-09 has been with us for 10 years, and through all the changes over this period, the original ethos of the bike has remained intact. Fast, Fun and Agile. So does the 2024 model just continue the story or does it push it on even further. There's new tech and features, but the important thing is, does it still offer the legendary MT-09 experience? In this video, I look at all the cha...

The Ducati We Ride as One 2024 event took place on the 4th of May. Dealerships and owners' clubs got together globally for a ride out and celebrate all things Ducati. I happened to have a Multistrada V4S Grand Tour press bike, so I thought I'd join in and I headed up to Ducati Cambridge in Harston to find out what it's all about. Whilst the local scenery is not a match for Bologna, we had a gre...

Arai Tour X5 Review Update - How did it cope with a UK Winter ?

I first rode in the new Arai Tour X5 at the launch in Almeria, Spain. The weather was warm, dry and sunny offering perfect riding conditions. However, the real test for the helmet would be once I got it back home to the UK. Having now worn it through a UK Winter, a wet one at that, do I still feel the same about it as I did on the launch? The 2024 Triumph Scrambler 1200X is part of the new scrambler lineup for 2024, and I think it's exactly what Triumph needed. The 1200 variation of the Scrambler has proved to be a very capable machine and for those looking for that Off-Road Desert Sled aesthetic, the XE model has always been the pinnacle. But it comes at a price, not just monetary, the long travel suspension means it's tall and...
2024 Honda Africa Twin CRF1100L Review - Key updates & changes for 2024

The 2024 Honda Africa Twin CRF1100L has had some key updates in both the 'Standard' and Adventure Sports Model variants. But the Standard Africa Twin model has had some changes too which I think will appeal to more potential buyers. These additions...

Sidi Aria Gore - Waterproof Touring Boots - Long term Test
Is it comfortable for doing highway touring for a long period of time?
I've been riding with the Arai Contour-x for 4 weeks now after a gruelling search for my new lid, so I'll give you all the highs and lows... Highs: 1) This thing is SOO unbelievably comfortable. It's like pushing your head into a velvet condom. (And that's a good thing!) 2) It's light. Real light. The reviews say the weight is on the higher side, but I find it remarkably light. Almost AGV light. 3) The ventilation is crazy good. You live in a hot climate? This thing is going to keep you cool. 4) My glasses go in with ease and sit on my nose. In fact, easier than any other AGV, Shoei or Shark helmet I've worn in the past. 5) It's got a smaller footprint than my old GT-Air... no bobblehead effect in a size XL. 6) It is beautiful. The Arai craftsmanship is stunning. I got the Face graphic, and I find myself just staring at the thing. 🙂 Lows: 1) Hot dang, it's expensive! The most money I have ever spent on a lid, but I keep them a long time so that's life. 2) WITH ALL THE VENTS OPEN, there is a lot of wind noise. But you see, ventilation requires moving air. Moving air is not quiet. When you close the two small top vents, it quiets down considerably. If you want a silent lid, go with the Shoei GT-Air 2 or 3. 3) The visor mechanism takes some getting used to. I have an old Arai Vector-2, so I'm used to it. Not a deal-breaker. 4) No photochromic shield available as of writing this. It's okay, I own sunglasses. ------------- Regrets: Zero Wallet: Hurting
hi saw you at the ABR but didnt have the confidence to stop you to speak great content keep it up
Very nice video. Very.
Great video, good option for classic or custom bikes so the look is not ruined.
Great review, thanks for the insight in this wonderful piece of machinery! 😍
Very better 👏👏👏
Can you use it as a speedo without having to put a route in?
yes
@mancavemoto thanks for coming back. That's great. Do you know if the speed limit indicator can be shown on the speedo page too?
A good Question, i'd have to check that. I suspect it can, but only when using it on a planned route, not for what you have in mind
Anakee wild or trailmax?
I've only ridden the Anakee wild for short periods when theyve been fitted to press bikes. My initial impression is that the Raids are better oon the road, and the Wilds better when things get a bit muddy off road?
0:45 1723g is good? It's your first helmet?
For a modular with a drop down internal visor, yes it is.. ruclips.net/p/PLvSfKh0v9LSuqoxzxNn1ZneFH63M0NDfA and clearly not.
You do need a numberplate light in the UK
You certainly didnt when this video was made in 2017.
How did you find it compared to the XC on the back lanes and byways? Even the new lower Explore Tenere is on my limit height wise so the 840mm of the XC seems tempting. That being said i live the tenere so perhaps i should stop worrying and learn to love the bomb?! These latest models have revised springs so theres definitely less sag than sitting on the first couple of gens.
Hi there!what you ride?
Africa Twin
Don't know if anyone else noticed but at 54 seconds in, a cat appears from the hedge!
Congratulations, you win the ‘spot the cat’ prize! 😂👍
I didn't notice it at the beginning, but I did see it at 5:21 where the same footage is repeated. I wondered if it was a cat or even possibly a fox.
Perfect motorcycle! Great option! I just think that cruise control should be available as an accessory, to be installed in the After Market.
I get engine light on after changing to short muffler/exhaust. Is it problem with new exhaust?
Is it the Sold Out exhaust? Have you refitted the O2 sensors?
@@mancavemoto no it is different aftermarket mufflers
just end cans, or the full exhaust? the only reson i can think of that the engine light is on (connected to the exhaust) is that its not getting an O2 reading from the sensors
@@mancavemoto cans/mufflers only. I cut the original exhaust half, then welded those mufflers.
@@mancavemoto how to fix if the sensor not getting reading for O2?
I had the chance to test ride this bike at the „SW-Motech open house“ right after I had tested the Suzuki 800DE and i absolutely enjoyed it. I even enjoyed the RE way more than the Suzuki. It’s an nice little bike which would suits almost everyone. The gear shifts and clutch control is great and I loved the handling of this bike. It’s a shame that people nowadays just focus on the big and just overpowered adventurer bikes. I owned a RE411, but it was physically too small for me. So I’ve sold it for a AfricaTwin and rode half around the world. And I still love my AT. But if RE would have released the Re450 3 years earlier i would still happily ride a RE today. Perfect little bike for real travellers! Ps: I’ve seen you and your friend at the „SW-Motech open house“, but was to afraid to talk to you guys. Very sad, because I was really interested in your experiences with the sweet Transalp of your friend. Well, maybe next time! Best regards, Jens!
Hey Jens, you should definitely have said Hello.
Great info, thank you
Glad it was helpful!
Have exactly the same N70 helmet and never noticed any “vibration” issues (riding a CB500X).
Sounds great. Do you think this will work with the Neo or is it Edge specific?
Can you do one for the Packtalk Neo please. Help us decide between the Neo and Freecom 4x would be great 👍
Do you think this bike could replace my BMW GSA 1250 R 2023? I use it for everyday commute but also for 4 to 6 hours weekend ride, but most importers, for summer trips over 3000+ km over 10 days. The first two usages I’m pretty sure the Diavel V4 can do, maybe even better than my bike, but my question is more about the long touring trips. Thanks
Thank you
You're welcome
I am 1.82 riding on a Tenere 700 with stock windscreen and using the exact same helmet and I have no issues. The only inconvenient for me is the peak design esthetic compared to other adventure helmets.
Step 1, I lost the special tool to pop off the side pods plate. Now what?
You can carefully use a flat blade screwdriver
Great review - many thanks👍 Question: does the Beeline app use Google or proprietary maps? If latter: (1) can I download the maps in the app pre-ride (so I can then put my phone in airplane mode and save phone battery? (2) Is there a cost to keeping the maps up to date? (3) What foreign country mapping is supported - and again is there a cost implication? Much obliged!👍
I'm pretty sure its google maps data thats driving it. once the route it plotted and the trip started the only connection needed to the phone is for gps location, so there is very little drain on the battery. No cost for maps updates and they are worldwide
@@mancavemotoThanks for taking the time to reply. Sounds good 👍
Great review - love your no nonsense so factual and objective reviews - make a great change from a lot of the frothy entertainment and repeat of the same Old same old lines that some use
Thanks Rob
How does a problem like the peak vibrating even get through the development process without being noticed? Makes me wonder if the peak was an add-on to a platform that was originally intended to be a city helmet?
yes
I really like my N70 and mainly use it in jet config sans chinbar in summer temps behind screen of CRF300L Rally. Love it! The peak on my helmet does not vibrate annoyingly, but pretty sure you can adjust the angle. I suggest adjusting it for less attack (more streamlined). I've used it while riding my '22 Africa Twin Base and find the extra drag of the peak to be annoying at the higher motorway speeds, so use an N100-5 modular most often, but still no vIbRaTiOn issue for that bike at high speeds. The helmet is in clean air on my AT.
Hi, I has been riding with the Nolan for about two years now and I can’t say that I have noticed any vibration at all. I am just about to go on a one month tour of Europe so I hope I don’t get tuned into it now I’ve watched your review. 🤪🤪🤪
Oh dear the vibrating peak is a no for me.
With the chin guard in place how does it compare noise wise with other modular helmets.
I dont think the chin section makes any difference to noise on this helmet
I have been using the Nolan n70-2 for the last 2 year and it a good helmet but a bit heavy .......also the spring loaded drop down is good but spring get loose with time. In the city the open face removable is very good . I do not use the peak since I ride road mostly. I do like this helmet and I use my Sena with it. on 6.5 on 10 ... I currently have shoei, scorpion, Touratek/Nexx , and 2 Nolan Alain & Yellow
They’re good value for money, Nolan helmets.
Thanks for the feedback
Hi, would I be able to fit my laptop in the Pro Roadpack? It's 3X23 cm. Thanks
No sadly not
Was quite fond of my moto when I first got it and very supportive, however apart from the complex junction issue mentioned in the video, I really fell out of love with it when they changed a subscription for audio, the device after all is only a screen using your phones GPS. I finally wised up to using an old phone (we all have one) and using google maps, with FREE audio! Then there is carpuride of course. for a lot less than the MOTO if you travel enough to want to hardwire.
They've got a very tempting grey one of these at Snells which I feel like a moth to a flame... Honestly though how did you find the top heaviness? Even my Monster 1200 feels heavier to move about than my Fatbob - truth! I do adore my Tracer 7 for touring, especially when I get to the Welsh mountain/farm roads but I've always been a fan of the Multi 950 ( took it out the same day as a 1250gs... give me the duc ) but the Tracer 7 is low, light, almost like a dirt bike on shitty roads ( please ride one if you can. Having owned a CP3'd XSR I know how easy it is to be seduced by that engine but for some reason I just can't swap the 7 for a 9 ). My only problem is the noisy screen on bikes which, at the moment, means I'm going to buy a 1200XC
I do like the grey ones!
Very fluent and well put together review thanks. I have a V4S Streetfighter and am thinking about a Diavel so it was very helpful feedback.
Thanks, glad it was useful
Bought a Quantic recently and straight away I thought it was one of the best helmets I had bought so far. Quiet , comfortable, easy visor change, good ventilation and of course it comes a lovely choice of colours. Definitely would recommend this lid to anyone. Great review , agreed with everything said. I would certainly buy another if I was looking for a new lid.
Can I stack a 30L dry pack onto the 40L dry pack?
yes you can
What helmet model are those?
Profile V and Quantic
Perfect
I pronounce it "Himalayan".
I love mine. I’m 70 but the weight doesn’t scare me, keeps it solid on the road in windy conditions. It’s fun, practical and very well made.
First, i was introduced to your channel a few days ago, and i love your content. Second, how is it at higher speeds on freeways? With or without the peak. I do understand it isn't made for that type of riding, but i really like the wide and large visor and FOV.
Hi, and thank you. I've had no issue with it at higher speeds, well nothing you wouldnt expect from this kind of helmet, even whne the speedo shows three digits
Im disappointed on the TX5 on the fitting , i purchased as soon it came into Northern Ireland, my head size is 56cm which is a small. Tx5 in small is far too tight and put pressure on my head and left red marks after half hour, and the medium was too big, got an Arai service man came to me to see about custom fitted pads etc , he even said himself that none of the two sizes suits me at all. Although I tried on the TX4 in small and it fits so much comfortable and more room compare to the tx5 for I don’t know why when the tx5 was meant to be more roomier, my nose even touches the nose air deflector. I’ve always had arais all my life, got a few rx7vs and no problems with fitment. I’m needing an adventure helmet due with a new bike i got and I’m unsure which to get now, was looking at the scorpion adf9000 or the new nexx x.wed3 Which would you go for ?
that is strange. its definitelty a slightly different shape as the TX4 in large had my chin up against the inside, but not on the TX5. I found the Scorpion and Nexx to be very diiferent fits, the Scorpion is a little rounder in head shape, but both good helmets. Whichever one of those fits you best you'd be happy with i think
Great video. I'm going to look into getting one of these. I currently have mine mounted on a Ram Ball mount on the handlebar but would like to move it where you have yours. Thanks
No problem
I tried multiple helmets and those fit perfectly, but when i press the the helmet toward my face, it touches my chin and I think it is not safe as it is seems it will pass the impact to my chin if I fall toward my face. I watched multiple video and no one talk about it. Should i go for a bigger shell or it’s ok?
It sounds like the helmet may the correct size for the skull, but not enough room in the chin
Is it possible to replace the clear plastic from this speedo i have a crack in mine
I don’t think you can from memory, it’s a sealed unit
How’s this helmet compare to Arai tour x4 and x5 fitment ?
The Thour X4 and 5 are slightly different themselves. This is definitely an intermediate oval.
I’ve had a similar keyed solution and I’ve never been near an Ann Summer’s stockroom.😉🤣 Gives you great peace of mind as I never trusted the button lock anyway, I take it off overnight or when I leave the bike in quiet situations.
